I decided to post my process of inking a page, showing each step as I complete it. This will be my first time doing so, so if I have a technical hiccup, please accept my apologies now! LOL
I will be using an actual page I am currently inking: page #6 of The Unforgiving #2 (plug, plug) over the dynamic pencils of Romano Molenaar. Ro and I hooked up for this series and I love his work: very precise lines, opportunities for hatching and feathering. He is also a very good friend, and I am honored to work with him.
Today, here is a scan of the actual page. Since Ro lives in the Netherlands, Fed Ex won't work for us, so I typically blueline his pages at 143% of 11x17 size. I decrease the density ratio a bit to allow his pencils to come through, yet just enough so that the CYAN ink is not overpowering.
The first thing I do (obviously) is outline the borders. Stay tuned as I get into contour lines.
